Michelle S.

I am a mother of two (one teen, one pre-teen), one of whom is "special needs" (Aspergers, OCD, SLD). I am an elementary special education teacher, and occasionally teach about special education as an adjunct faculty member at our local college branch. I have been married for nearly two decades, to a high school English and Drama teacher. I also am Aspergers. However, I feel my biggest challenge is balancing parenting, work, and my other interests, with the physical difficulties of myasthenia gravis.

I am involved with ASAN (the Autism Self-Advocacy Network), and with a special outreach program to pre-service teachers through our state's parent advocacy organization.

I love to read, and spend lots of time on the Internet. On TV, I like Star Trek, NCIS, House, Gordon Ramsey shows, and Scrubs. I occasionally still draw, paint, and do needlepoint, although my MG interferes. I also occasionally still play my violin, keyboard, or write poetry.
